You Don't Know Jack Erin McCarthy 9780758214096 Books

I bought this book as this was my 3rd book I've read from this author. my daughter brought home a while ago "The Pregnancy Test" & "Mouth to Mouth".

I did enjoy this book very much, I loved all the people in this book, Jamie was a cute one and Jack was quite irressitable.

I think my only complaint with this book, as to why I gave it 4 stars was cause the ending did not do it for me. The whole book happens within a 2 week period (or about), all leading to Caroline's Wedding. But then the wedding comes and the last 2 chapters or so happen over the period of like a day!

To me the ending seem rushed, like the Author needed to end it so she just threw together all the untight lose ends and wrapped it all together. It was not the ending I was hoping for - well it was - but not put in a few words and end it.

But all in all this book was wonderful and I had a great time reading it and so did my daughter :)

You Don't Know Jack Erin McCarthy 9780758214096 Books Reviews

The people in this book behave in completely insane and implausible ways. They spend one day together (probably 24 hours) and he keeps calling and approaching her despite her telling him she doesn't want to see him. Then blurts out that he loves her? No. No matter how great your first date was, you don't love a person and start suggesting you get married, especially when the other person says they don't want to. I expect some suspension of belief with chick lit, but this was really uncomfortable.

Also, there is really no banter between the characters. This isn't comedic, but it also isn't any other genre. The initial premise is solved in a paragraph and there isn't any other dilemma.
The characters are great, there is some good humor and, even though you know how it is going to end, it doesn't have a predictable feel to it. The sex scenes are rather lenghty (I like my sex scenes but these were a bit too drawn out!) but they work for these characters because they have such great chemistry. You will enjoy this book if you are looking for a cute romantic story.
This book was a fun and fast read. I had not read anything by this author before and when I finished I wanted to read more. The characters are very real and make you want to know more about them. You don't know Jack is part of a story series but read as a stand alone. I really recommend it and the first book in the series The Pregnancy Test.
I liked Jack, and I felt that he had an ok reason to lie. I did not like Jamie. She was too inflexible, unforgiving, impractical, illogical. I had no reason to admire or like her. The way he fell for her was unrealistic. There were no interesting conversations. Not once did I laugh out loud. Nothing surprised me or delighted me.

Sexual content not quantified, as I recall probably moderate, maybe strong. Setting current day New York. Copyrt 2006. Genre contemporary romance.

For a list of my reviews of other Erin McCarthy books, see my 3.5 star review of "Flat-Out Sexy" posted under 3 stars 11/11/08.
I fell in love with Jack and Jamie the moment they 'crashed' into each other! They were by no means perfect, by the were perfect for each other! This book felt so real that it could easily pass for a true story! I could honestly see something like this happen!

I loved Beckwith - he cracked me up. And Jack's grandfather, I'd love to let him live with me. He's a hoot!!

This book was great. It had it all - drama, romance, humor, hot sexin', it was wonderful!
I love Erin McCarthy's books, and this one, which goes with The Pregnancy Test, is one of my favorites. I am really excited for Allison & Caroline's stories to come out later this year. While I love her Fast Track Series A LOT, The Pregnancy Test and this one will always be especially awesome to me. I highly recommend those two books, and any others of hers you can get your hands on. The "True Believers" series by her is also exceptional.
Erin McCarthy has done it again.

We first met these 4 roomates in Erin's The Pregnancy Test (A great book). This is the story of Jamie Peters a social worker with a big heart who seems to be a bum magnet where men are concerned... Enter a cross dressing psychic who predicts she will find the man of her dreams. She bumps into Jonathon Jack Davidson on the subway and the sparks fly. She is sure he is THE ONE... But does she KNOW Jack? This is a fast paced, fun story. All the characters capture you and you can't help but hope Erin will write another tale about the other roomates Allison and Caroline. There's a little bit of everything in this book, including several steamy sex scenes. A great book, you wont be disappointed!
